This is a vintage ceramic character jug, possibly from the mid-20th century, depicting a man wearing a blue cap and a green jacket. The jug is hand-painted with attention to detail, particularly in the facial features and the shaping of the hat and jacket. The man has a beard and moustache, and his face is depicted with rosy cheeks.
The jug has a creamy white base glaze, with the colours added on top. The blue of the cap, the green of the jacket, and the brown of the beard and hair are all fairly muted. The handle of the jug is white, and the base is marked with some faint details.
Condition: There is some wear to the paint, as well as some crazing in the glaze, which is consistent with age.
Display: This item would be best displayed on a shelf in a home bar or in a collection of character jugs.
