This genuine matching pair of hand-carved African wooden seed mashers was originally made as traditional tools for grinding grains and pods. Each piece is carved from solid wood with a rich dark-brown finish that shows the natural texture, carved grooves and marks of artisanal workmanship.
The tall, slender handles lead into heavy tapered bases, giving the pair a strong and balanced sculptural form when displayed together. The wood shows age-related wear, including drying cracks, grain splits and surface marks. Please refer to the photographs for condition.
