The Magnum of its day, this massive bore pistol was designed for use at close-quarters as last line of defence, and a favoured weapon in India for tiger hunters who hunted from the top of elephants in the Howdah - hence the name Howdah Pistol.

The barrel is an 8" smooth bore; the weapon is 14 inches long overall, and in cracking condition.
