This pair of antique French Rococo Revival bedside cabinets showcases 19th-century European craftsmanship. Each cabinet stands on gracefully curved cabriole legs, with carved details on the knees and apron, reflecting the ornate aesthetic of the period. The warm brown wood features intricate marquetry in geometric patterns on the drawer fronts, door panels, and sides. Each cabinet includes a single practical drawer with a round brass knob, and a lower cupboard accessed by a small door with a brass keyhole escutcheon. The tops are crafted from natural marble, displaying subtle cream and pinkish tones with darker veining, providing a durable surface. The interior of the lower cabinet contains its original white enamel liner, suggesting its historical function as a 'pot cupboard' or commode. This feature now offers historical interest and discreet storage. The cabinets are in good antique condition, exhibiting general wear consistent with their age, including minor surface marks, faint scratches to the wood finish, and natural variations within the marble. The brass hardware shows an aged patina. Structurally sound, these pieces retain their original character. They are suitable as bedside tables in a bedroom or as side tables in a living room or lounge, offering French style to any interior.
