Vintage Railway Number 6 Signal Lever Plate

This is a signal box lever plate. These plates were used in railway signal boxes to indicate the function of each lever. This particular plate has a white front with black lettering indicating the number “6” and the options “3 OR NIL”. The back is painted in alternating red and black stripes for visibility. This plate would have been attached to a lever in a signal box to control a specific aspect of the railway, such as points or signals. Signs of wear are present due to its age and use.
