Vintage Oval Coopered Wooden Dry Measure Tub with Metal Bands

A rustic vintage oval dry-measure tub, coopered from vertical wooden staves and secured by two broad metal bands. The warm, time-worn timber and simple utilitarian construction give it an appealing primitive country-house character.

Originally suited to measuring or carrying dry goods, it now makes an attractive decorative container for kindling, dried flowers, textiles or shop display. Its compact oval form also sits neatly on a shelf or worktop.

Condition: Well-used vintage condition with scratches, stains, dents, small splits, edge wear and natural movement between the wooden staves. The metal bands and fasteners show oxidation and surface marks, and the upper rim is irregular with a raised or damaged section visible in the photographs.
