A decorative pair of tall black lacquer wall panels with mother-of-pearl inlay and fine gold-coloured linework. The two scenes depict elegant figures among mountain, water, bamboo and pavilion motifs, framed by repeating geometric and floral borders.
The shimmering shell changes tone as it catches the light, giving the figures and landscape details a lively, dimensional quality against the glossy black ground. Displayed together, the narrow rectangular panels form an attractive piece of East Asian-inspired wall decoration.
