Hornsea Potteries, established in 1949 by brothers Colin and Desmond Rawson, grew from crafting seaside trinkets to becoming the largest studio pottery in the world, employing over 700 people.

Hornsea’s widespread popularity was fueled by innovative designs and groundbreaking techniques, making it a household name in British ceramics.

Although Hornsea ceased trading in 2000, Magpie has revived some of its most iconic designs, starting with the works of John Clappison.
