Hornsea Potteries was founded in 1949 by brothers Colin and Desmond Rawson. From humble beginnings crafting seaside trinkets, the brand grew into the largest studio pottery in the world, employing over 700 people.

Hornsea’s success was fueled by its innovative techniques and inspirational designs, which gained widespread popularity.

Although the company ceased trading in 2000, Magpie has revived some of Hornsea’s most iconic designs, starting with the illustrative works of John Clappison.

As passionate mid-century design enthusiasts, Magpie is dedicated to preserving Hornsea’s legacy and ensuring its timeless designs are celebrated by future generations.
