Hornsea Potteries was founded in 1949 by brothers Colin and Desmond Rawson. From humble beginnings creating seaside trinkets, the brand grew to become the largest studio pottery in the world, employing over 700 people.

Hornsea’s success stemmed from its innovative techniques and inspirational designs, which gained widespread popularity.

Although trading ceased in 2000, Magpie has revived some of Hornsea’s most iconic designs, beginning with the illustrative works of John Clappison.

As passionate mid-century design enthusiasts, Magpie is committed to preserving Hornsea’s legacy and ensuring its timeless designs are cherished by future generations.
