Austin Sculpture Japanese Uesugi Figure on Black Stand

An evocative Austin Sculpture figurine entitled "The Uesugi", depicting the famous fourteenth-century Japanese historical figure Uesugi Shagetusa in formal ceremonial robes holding a folding fan. The piece is cast with rich surface textures showing floral and cloud-like motifs, finished in a distressed sage-green and cream glaze that suggests aged stone or patinated bronze.

The figure is mounted on a moulded black stand, which retains its original paper booklet from The Austin Sculpture Collection. Showing only minor surface wear, this distinctive sculpture provides an elegant accent for a sideboard, study desk or mantelpiece.
