SANTAS GROTTO TITANIC CENTRE – Belfast

SANTAS GROTTOS
Titanic Centre
Belfast, Co. Antrim

Project:  Supply the majority of the stage sets and props for Santa’s grotto at the Titanic centre, probably the best grotto in Northern Ireland.

What’s not to love about your job when it is to decorate Santa’s grotto. We thoroughly loved working on this project and we through everything at it.

From Santa’s mail room ( yes we stuffed over 1000 envelopes) to the workshop and from Mrs Clauses kitchen to the big mans office nearly all the props were supplied by On The Square Emporium.

In the mail room we sourced a Victorian pigeon hole unit for the incoming mail and we made huge hessian sacks that were printed with The North Pole along with other vintage filing drawers, scales and rolled up plans and maps.

Mrs Clauses kitchen, the heart of any home, we created with an early Georgian dresser complete with crockery, jars and antique cooking utensils. This was paired with an antique pine table for making cookies and all the apparatus needed. To rest after a busy day baking we supplied Mrs Clause with a comfy chair and a fireplace to keep her warm.

Through out the workshop we supplied benches, chairs, tables, vintage toys etc, not to forget the workshop workbench and vintage tools!

On The Square took particular pride in decorating Santas office. We installed a grand partners desk adorned with world maps, writing slope, sweeties and a wee dram to keep him warm before he sets of. Behind that we ut a glorious  Globe Wernicke bookcase filled with vintage books. Infront of our fireplace we put a grand chair for Santa to sit on and meet the kids.

The piece de resistance in and Santa’s Grotto is the sleigh. The Titanic centre entrusted Santa’s main transport to us and we built a bespoke sleigh fit for any rotund magical world traveller.
