Dearest readers… The internet is abuzz with the latest gossip! The third season of Bridgerton aired to rave reviews, and now we can’t get enough of the Regencycore aesthetic. If you’re a Bridgerton fan, you know this aesthetic well. If you aren’t, worry not! On the Square Emporium is here to spill the details of this interior trend.

What is Regencycore?

Regencycore is a style influenced by the Regency era, which provides the setting for Bridgerton. Spanning from 1811 to 1820, it is a sub-period of the Georgian era during which George IV served as Regent in the stead of his unwell father George III.

Aside from the political strife, the Regency era is best remembered for its style. This style has captured the modern imagination through adaptations of Jane Austen’s novels and, more recently, Bridgerton.

Pastels

The sets used in Bridgerton are a treat for the eyes, and much of this is down to the colour palette. Pastels were a staple of the era, particularly on walls.

If you want to bring some Regencycore flair into your space, a lick of paint is the perfect place to start. Think muted blues, blush pinks and pea greens.

Gold

Wealthy nobles like the Bridgerton family knew that there was no better accompaniment to soft colours than a gold accent. The same is true for evoking a Regencycore aesthetic at home.

One of our favourite ways to incorporate gold edging is through mirrors. A mirror can be the centrepiece of a room. It’s a simple way to make an ordinary room feel as large and luxurious as a Bridgerton manor.

Florals

Flowers are everpresent in Bridgerton, whether they be the real deal or a print. When styling a Regencycore home, you can’t go wrong with maximalist floral prints.

From upholstery to wallpaper and rugs, there are endless ways to incorporate this motif into your home.

Luxurious Lighting

One of the most striking elements of Bridgerton set design is gorgeous lighting. Many of the rooms are ignited by impressive chandeliers and elegant wall sconces. Incorporating something of this grandeur into your home is sure to fulfil your Regencycore dreams.

Wall Art

Nothing says sophistication like a framed painting on a wall, and Bridgerton incorporates lots of them. If you want to take Regencycore to its dramatic extreme, you could even commission a portrait of yourself!

If that sounds a little too indulgent for you, the world of antiquing offers you plenty of alternatives.

Eye-catching Furniture

Unlike current trends of minimalism and form-over-function, Regencycore embraces theatrical touches in furniture. Most upper-class Regency furniture was made of high-quality wood and opulent fabrics. It provides the perfect backdrop for the dramatic moments of Bridgerton!

Outdoors

Another memorable aspect of Bridgerton is the stunning garden scenes. Although we don’t all have access to sprawling estates, an urn-style planter could give your garden that regal feeling.

Smaller Details

Even if you don’t want to go all out with your Regencycore decor, there are more subtle ways to add some Bridgerton flair to your life.

Some vintage ceramics could be the perfect small splash of Regency style. Maybe you want an authentic china tea set for a Regency-themed party (or just for your morning cuppa).
