Hornsea Potteries, founded in 1949 by brothers Colin and Desmond Rawson, evolved from producing seaside trinkets to becoming the largest studio pottery in the world, employing over 700 people.
Renowned for its innovative designs and groundbreaking techniques, Hornsea became a beloved name in British ceramics.
Although the company ceased trading in 2000, Magpie has reimagined some of Hornsea’s most iconic designs, starting with the works of John Clappison.
As passionate mid-century design enthusiasts, Magpie is dedicated to preserving Hornsea’s legacy and sharing its timeless appeal with future generations.
