On The Square Emporium’s June Auction, “The Extraordinary Auction”, is living up to its name. The latest Lots to be announced are 4 original Banksy’s! Due to the recent unmasking of Banksy by Reuters reporters there has been a surge in interest in the famous street artist. A local collector heard about the up and coming auction and could think of no better place to sell his prized collection.
“ I have bought many things from On The Square Emporium and love the shop and their auctions. When I heard of their “Extraordinary Auction” I had already decided to put a few choice items in. But then the news broke about Banksy’s true identity being unveiled and I knew the time was right to sell” Quote from the owner
There has been much speculation about Banksy over the last two decades, with many people believing it was Robert Del Naja, the co founder of Massive attack, a trip hop band with its roots in Bristol. This appears to be close and Robert may be involved the Routers report suggests. But the real Banksy is 52 year old Bristol born man called Robin Gunningham, now going by the name of David Jones.
Reuters had uncovered that in 2000 Robin Gunningham was caught in Manhattan scaling a brownstone to deface a Marc Jacobs Poster. He signed the confession that Reuters found 24 years later. In 2022 Banksy artwork appeared in the war torn Ukraine on bombed buildings. Reuters checked the immigration and border control and found that Robert Del Naja had entered Ukraine around that time and his travelling companion was David Jones, the alias of Robbin Gunningham.
A 8,000 word expose was produced by Reuters cementing the evidence above with information from the books Banksy’s old manager Steve Lazarides wrote on the artist, along with HMRC Tax information and a lot of other anecdotal evidence.

“This is great timing” Said Justin the owner and auctioneer at On The Square “with Banksy back in the headlines the prices of his work is rising again. We are very happy to accept the entries of the Banksy Originals with full certification. The entries are Love Rat (estimate £14,000 to £18,000), Happy Choppers (estimate £14,000 to £18,000), Golf Sale (estimate £10,000 to £14,000) and Monkey queen (£10,000 to £14,000)”
The Banksy’s should prove very popular in the auction, but there are many other great entries for the “Extrodinary Auction” with over £400,000 worth of entries coming in, in the first. They have some great historical pieces from Harland and Wolff and the Titanic, there are some great props and set pieces from Movies and Tv shows like Game of Thrones and Love Actually. For the military collector there is a big private collection of weapons and a missiles and military vehicles. There is another collection of rare Irish Whiskey memorabilia and there is a growing amount of classic cars being entered into the auction, including a 1958 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud MK1.
