Hornsea Potteries, founded in 1949 by brothers Colin and Desmond Rawson, quickly evolved from producing seaside trinkets to becoming the largest studio pottery in the world, employing over 700 people.
Renowned for their unique designs and groundbreaking techniques, Hornsea became a household name in British ceramics.
Although the company ceased trading in 2000, Magpie has reintroduced some of Hornsea’s most iconic designs, starting with the works of John Clappison.
As mid-century design enthusiasts, Magpie is dedicated to celebrating Hornsea’s legacy and ensuring its timeless appeal endures for future generations.
