Hornsea Potteries, founded in 1949 by brothers Colin and Desmond Rawson, grew from creating seaside trinkets to becoming the largest studio pottery in the world, employing over 700 people.

Hornsea’s success stemmed from its innovative designs and techniques, which gained widespread popularity.

Although the company ceased trading in 2000, Magpie has revived some of Hornsea’s most iconic designs, starting with the works of John Clappison.
