About Magpie x Hornsea

The Magpie x Hornsea collection honors the legacy of the iconic pottery brand, Hornsea.

Founded in 1949 by Colin and Desmond Rawson, Hornsea Potteries grew from producing seaside trinkets to becoming the largest studio pottery in the world, employing over 700 people.

Renowned for its innovative designs and groundbreaking techniques, Hornsea became a beloved name in British ceramics for 50 years before closing in 2000.

Magpie has partnered with Hornsea to bring back some of its most iconic designs, starting with John Clappison’s Cat and Owl illustrations from 1967. These designs were carefully redrawn from archival illustrations housed in the Hornsea Museum.

Glazed in authentic Hornsea colors, the Cat Money Box is a delightful mid-century piece, reimagined for today’s collectors and enthusiasts.
