About Magpie x Hornsea
The Magpie x Hornsea collection celebrates the rich heritage of Hornsea, a vintage pottery brand that became a cornerstone of British design.
Founded in 1949 by Colin and Desmond Rawson, Hornsea Potteries evolved from producing seaside trinkets to becoming the largest studio pottery in the world, employing over 700 people.
Hornsea's success was fueled by innovative designs and techniques that captivated generations. Though the company ceased trading in 2000, Magpie has partnered to revive its legacy by reintroducing some of its most iconic designs, beginning with John Clappison’s works.
As mid-century design enthusiasts, Magpie is dedicated to ensuring Hornsea’s timeless designs continue to be cherished by future generations.
