First published in 1778, tragically this 1862 edition is in remarkably good condition due to lack of use.
An original edition belonged to US President George Washington.
Notable for Brown’s footnotes, explanations and cross-references; John Brown was son of a peasant Scottish weaver, self-taught in numerous foreign languages, and importantly, fluent in Greek and Hebrew, allowing him to open the eyes of the readers’ understanding in his unique style.
I doubt that we will ever get another copy in such good condition.
If you need a lamp to your feet and a light unto your path, this is the book for you: it’s a sharp as a twoedged sword.
