Autumn is just around the corner – and autumn trends are already here!

As the leaves change, you may feel the itch to change up your interior. At OTSE, we’re all about expressing individual style rather than following fast-furniture trends. However, we also believe it’s possible to take some inspiration from trends while remaining sustainable.

Here are our top five autumn trends that we can see lasting all year.

1. Neutral/Warm Colours

One of the most reliable autumn trends is neutral, warm colours. Browns, oranges, beiges. This is the perfect time to introduce wooden elements into your home.

At OTSE, we believe that brown is the new black. A piece of authentic wood furniture fits with any decor style. From teak to mahogany, wood can provide a foundation to build your individual style upon.

High-quality wood combined with skilled craftsmanship results in pieces of furniture that can last a lifetime. This is exemplified in antique furniture which has already lasted at least 100 years before making it to you.

2. Indoor Plants

To some, autumn conjures up images of darker days and dull gardens. This autumn trend seeks to remedy this problem by bringing greenery indoors.

Regardless of if you go for flowers or succulents, it’s important to choose the right pot or vase. For autumn, we particularly enjoy these baskets from The Basket Room which can be used as a textured alternative to a standard plant pot.

3. 70s Revival

Mid-century furniture has been having its moment this year. Autumn is no exception! As this trend grows, mass-produced reproductions are likely to crop up. Why not stand out from the crowd by investing in authentic mid-century pieces?

Iconic characteristics of mid-century furniture include geometric patterns, mixed materials and pops of bright colour. This classic style values function over form, making it both a useful and elegant addition to your home.

Curves

One simplistic autumn trend to look out for is curves. The colder months call for softer, cozier spaces which requires leaving behind harsh edges and straight lines.

One of our favourite examples of curved furniture is these Ercol rocking chairs. A rocking chair would be the perfect accompaniment to reading by the fire in autumn and winter.

Stripes

Stripes are a faithful pattern which never goes out of style. It is coming back with extra strength this autumn but can be incorporated into your home all year round.

Stripes are best utilised as an accent in small furnishings like cushions and rugs. As for OTSE, we enjoy incorporating stripes through the iconic pattern of Cornishware.
