Indian Motorcycles Cast Iron Sign

This impressive cast iron garage plaque features the logo of Indian Motorcycle, the US motorcycle manufacturer. In the 1910’s, not only was Indian Motorcycle the biggest motorcycle manufacturer in the world, it also had success in the world of road racing, taking the top three places in the Isle of Man TT in 1911. The company underwent a number of bankruptcies and restructurings before being taken over by the current owners, Polaris. This particular garage sign displays an early version of the Indian Motorcycles logo, featuring the Big Chief Indian with traditional headress. The brand name “Indian Motorcycle” appears in the middle of the plaque.
