For over 160 years Morris & Co has been providing colour and pattern derived from the natural world.
This is also very much today’s oeuvre – using the natural world around us for inspirational interior colour schemes.
William Morris, himself grappled with emulating nature-inspired colours using various pigments and dyes for his wallpaper patterns. Apparently, he had indigo-stained hands due to these experiments! But in the end, an array of rich tones were created and are now donned by many a Victorian home. Earlier in 2022 the brand launched 40 paint colours to coordinate with the wallpapers, based on the Morris’ historic colour recipes and documents from the extensive Morris & Co Design Archive.
One of the 19th century’s most famous names. William Morris is still renowned today as the designer of patterns such as ‘Willow Bough’ and ‘Strawberry Thief’. But his wallpapers and textiles are only part of the story. Through developing many other products and working on interiors schemes (including one for the V&A’s own café), Morris also mastered many other areas of design – as well as finding time to be a social activist and celebrated author.
This timeless range of colours & wallpapers really are THE most authentic, nature-inspired colours you will EVER get!
And you can now see the range in OTSE. Our Heritage Brands area now boasts the patterns and colours of this range as well as other heritage-styles in the Sanderson Design Range.
